Several Chasers showed some muscle on the 1.5 mile courses of RTR Motor Speedway, but Dajon Weeks coasted through a late caution flag on his way to his second win of the season and a clincher in the Round of 8. Weeks shuffled around with Eric Van Arsdale and Matt Johnson at the front of the field for most of the second half of the race, but a scurry of accidents put the #21 up top with Barry Golberg threatening win number three, finishing second. William Brock finished third, nascarfan19 fourth and Johnson fifth.
Three Takeaways: Bandon Overeasy: A half-spin for NascarFan1418 brought out a caution but became a bigger nightmare for the drivers trying to shuffle back into line. KDude124 got spun around on the backstretch after taking the yellow, making several drivers panic and scatter. In the process, Reece Butcher nailed Dan Bandon in the right side door and put him on his roof. Bandon would not leave the race, but he would come on and off pit road constantly over the rest of the race and ended up causing the second-to-last accident of the day, putting James McDaniel in the wall. nascarfan19 took some Chase momentum he gained from his first win at Arizona Speedway and applied it very neatly to win once again two races later at Spring Creek Raceway. The #64 car led most of the laps throughout the race after starting from the pole. Finishing off the top five were Carson Scott, KDude124, Alexander Miller, and Pat Hayes.
Three Takeaways: Momentum Swing: nascarfan19 is suddenly making a huge run through the Chase after coming into the playoffs solely on points. His Arizona win got him into the Round of 12, but now he’s one of eight drivers headed toward championship hopes when he could have been written off after his accident at Riki. A Semi-clean Ride: The race at Spring Creek lacked cautions, but there were a few cases of bumping and rubbing early on in the night. Emmett Juckem got loose right out of turn 1 after some contact from Carson Scott. Chasers Nick Smith and DaleJrDude88 also exchanged blows in turn 2. Rampage Pit Problems: The #1 car struggled to gain ground on the race track while he was losing spots on pit road. Rampage made two pit stops on the night and appeared to lose ground on them each time. As a result, he now sits 11th on the Chase grid with ground to make up. |
