Barry Golberg grabbed a second victory at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in a very crash-filled and strange race and did so after starting from 42nd position. In the process, his repeat win guaranteed a second spot to open up to non-winners. However, Marty Johnson dropped from the top 35 while Reece Butcher came back into the safe zone. A third spot became available, and the three non-winners to join the Chase are William Brock, John Arndt and nascarfan19. Conrad Cooper, Emmett Juckem, Colin Lindsay, and nascarfan19 were the rest of the top five.
Three Takeaways: Stealing a Spot: nascarfan19 was hardly on the radar to join the Chase grid coming into this race, but getting himself on the tail-end of a top five in a race where many of the contenders had issues was a critical hit. Golberg With Momentum: Golberg joins Harry Sorah as the only drivers to win two races during the regular season. Getting this win just before the Chase races and putting himself six points up on three non-winners is not only good for his first round but for the Chase as a whole. Drivers Who Missed: Alexander Miller was devastated by missing the Chase by just one point to nascarfan19. Per league rules, a tie at 16th place would have allowed both drivers into the playoffs and taking out five drivers at the end of the Round of 16. However, Miller could not pull off what he needed to and makes the Chase as conventional as it was planned. |
