NECS cars tested at Lydden Hill, but the league determined the track would not be sufficient for competitive stock car racing. The NFRN turned to officials involved with the NFRN Australian Series, which decided not to run in 2017, for other options.
"Our international presence is important," NFRN commissioner Collin Denton said. "We appreciate Lydden Hill and their efforts to bring our stock cars back to England, but none of our race packages provided the kind of excitement we want our fan base to experience. The expectation is that Calder Park's configuration will fill the gap." Calder Park's road course configuration, which cuts the Thunderdome oval, will be used for the race. The NECS ran one time in England, during the 2016 season at Brooklands Outer Circuit. |
